“You are

What You Eat”

Soda cans on poster board

16” x 21.25”

This piece serves as an ode to my childhood and the constants that shaped it. Inspired by a photograph I took of my grandmother during a visit to Boston, I constructed her image using Diet Coke cans, both a personal and shared staple in our lives. Playing on the phrase “you are what you eat,” the work blends humor and sentiment, using a familiar object to represent memory, routine, and enduring connection. The accompanying black-and-white version emphasizes the underlying values and structure of the composition.
