“Koi in Motion”
Acrylic Paint, Tempera Paint, India Ink, Colored Ink, Gel Pen
9” x 12”
In this piece, I experimented with texture and layering using a palette knife, drawing inspiration from natural forms and movement. Layered strokes on a blue background gradually suggested fish in a pond, which I emphasized by adding koi with a gel pen. I intentionally preserved some of the original paint strokes to reveal the work's evolution, allowing viewers to see its progression from abstract marks to the final image. The piece balances abstraction and representation, capturing both the spontaneity of the creative process and the delicate beauty of the koi.
