“Oh, the Places I’ll Go”

Acrylic Paint, Oil Pastel, on Canvas

30” x 30”

Squares are notoriously tricky canvas shapes, and during my sophomore year in college, my professor challenged us to work with one. How did I tackle it? I divided the canvas into 18 identical rectangles and transformed each one into a miniature license plate, documenting the places I’d visited across the United States. Each plate serves as a memento of my time in that state, turning a challenging format into a personal map of memories and experiences.
